What We Do
Lived experience of mental health needs informs all that we do and provide at NFOW. Our services and activities are developed in response to and at the request of the people who use them.
Therefore our activities have a sound practical and proven role in managing wellbeing
Informal and practical sessions where you learn to use and access the internet, get to grips with Office or Google’s’ endless cute kitten pictures! If you are new to computers our helpful facilitators and volunteers will guide you through the basics or help you fathom out your tablet or Kindle. You can also use our computer classes to access welfare rights information and also find supportive organisations and mental health support groups.
Creative activities such as art and craft have long been recognised as playing a major therapeutic role in the management of mental health wellbeing, and a source of meaningful activity for many people. Here at NFOW we offer people the opportunity to explore their creative side in a relaxed and supportive environment. We have a large range of art and craft materials available for people to experiment with, and while we do not have a formal tutor, our volunteers and group members are always willing to share their skills and experience. We are open to all comers, regardless of experience!
Our major creative project involves producing unique pieces and bespoke commissions in illuminated frames. This social enterprise project will be a source of income allowing our services to expand.
